We are all just getting back into the groove of things this time of the year. Some are coming back to work while others are hitting it hard getting everything ready for trade show and film season. Even we are finalizing plans for our annual Surface Film, as well as helping with the premiere of F3T here in Denver. With that said, January is a busy month for all of us.

But if you haven’t heard by now, The Greenbacks are now doing a monthly tying party. We started this past year in October with each month having a different theme. It’s been a great way to introduce new people to tying while having the opportunity to get help from your friends in areas that you might be struggling with. Besides, who doesn’t like to hang out, have a beer or two, and tie flies with their friends?

This past December, we had a tying party and Christmas party all mixed into one. In the spirit of giving, we donated all of the flies that we tied to Casting for Recovery here in Colorado. If you haven’t heard about Casting for Recovery, they are an organization that focuses on enhancing the quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing.

Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to give out new fly lines, signed books, and even a Tenkara outfit from Wetfly! In case you missed the shenanigans, it’s okay, we got it all on film.

If you want to join us for the next tying party, we will be at  Alpine Dog (1505 Ogden St. Denver, CO 80218) January 21st at 7pm. We usually go until the place closes. For more information on our tying parties, please sign up at http://thegreenbacks.org/fly-tying
