A few weeks ago with the help of Anglers All we hosted our first annual South Platte river clean-up and BBQ. We would like to give a big shout out and thank you to everyone who came and helped! We were all surprised at how clean we found the river, but our contribution helped to make the South Platte River Trail a more enjoyable place to enjoy the outdoors. Approximately 40 volunteers joined us and ended up clearing more than a truck-load of garbage bags of everything from empty cans to a 200 lb safe door! Various groups saw large pods of trout feeding on trico hatches, clusters of bass and trout in deep pools, and a few fishermen along the way.
After clearing the trash, everyone headed back to Anglers All for a celebratory BBQ where we raffled off some great prizes from Anglers All, Fishpond, Urban Anglers and Colorado Trout Unlimited. We also enjoyed hot dogs and burgers supplied by Synergy Insurance Advisors while washing it down with a refreshing Upslope.
We have already begun planning our next river cleanup event and look forward to seeing everyone out there next year!
